主要研究方向:金属有机高分子合成及应用、超大金属有机单分子设计与合成、工业烟气及PVC行业合成气脱汞高分子材料的研制与工程化应用、放射性核废水处理材料。

发表了近200篇高水平学术论文及专利,如:科学《Science》、自然-化学《Nature Chemistry》、《Chem》、自然-通讯《Nature Communications》、美国化学会志《J. Am. Chem. Soc.》、德国应用化学《Angew. Chem. Int. Ed.》、先进材料《Adv. Mater.》、先进功能材料《Adv. Funct. Mater.》、英国皇家化学会化学通讯《Chem. Commun.》、有机快报《Org. Lett.》、材料化学杂志《J. Mater. Chem.》等高影响因子的国际权威刊物上,得到了国际学术界和学术媒体的高度评价,如:美国化学与工程新闻《Chemical & Engineering News》、美国科学日报《Science Daily》、法国的研究杂志《Research》及自然-材料子刊《Nature Materials》等杂志的专门转载报道。

获得多项中国、美国、欧洲及国际专利,高分子重金属处理材料已在多家大型企业进行了工业化试验及应用,形成了系列产品,可同时对工业废水、放射性核废水、工业废气和废渣中的重金属进行综合治理,对有色冶炼企业含汞烟气治理及污染物减排技术达到了国际领先水平。

参与及主持了20余项国内外科研及创新项目,包括:科技部创新基金、国际环境署-环保部对外合作基金、湖南及长沙市重点项目、国家自然科学基金、中南大学特聘教授基金、美国自然科学基金企业创新基金、美国自然科学基金、欧洲原子能委员会基金、五矿集团有色冶炼工业烟气脱汞项目等。
